Adrienne Kapstein is a collaborative theater-maker and director specializing in the creation of new work. Her original shows have been presented nationally and internationally including Canada, Scotland, Ireland, Romania and China. Highlights include the creation/direction of: The Society for Historic Sonic Happenings, SHSH (commissioned by the Up Close Festival 2019/20), Scurry (Lincoln Center), The Emperor’s New Clothes and More Magical Stories (Off Broadway Alliance nominee for Best Family Show, 2019), Light, A Dark Comedy (Triskelion Arts; New Victory LabWorks recipient), Washeteria (Soho Rep); Wanda’s Monster (Vineyard Theater); Every Day Above Ground (PS 122); Fathom (Winner Best Production, Dublin Fringe), Love is Love (Sibiu International Theater Festival). Adrienne also co-wrote, One Starry Night: Out of the Blue (producers: GrandBoat Culture Co.), an interactive multimedia play for families that toured China 2019 - 2020. From 2012 - 2014, Adrienne was the Associate Director of Movement and Horse Choreography on War Horse (Broadway & National Tour) and from 1999 to 2007, she was the co-founder and co-Artistic Director of the award-winning international ensemble, SaBooge Theatre. SaBooge created six critically acclaimed original shows and toured the U.S., Canada and Ireland.​

 

Areas of research and teaching include: immersive, transmedia and participatory performance practice; physical theater; collaborative storytelling; Theater for Young Audiences including Theater for the Very Young.
