Jazz, Anatomy for Dancers, Current Dance in New York - BFA Commercial Dance & Performing Arts General

Ginger’s multifaceted career as teacher and choreographer has taken her all over the world.  She holds a Masters Degree in Kinesiology, and a BFA in Dance from Temple University. She is on faculty at Broadway Dance Center (BDC), the PULSE Teacher’s Workshop, and Harkness Dance Center; and has taught in Luxembourg, Paris, Switzerland, Germany, Mexico and Japan, for the Joffrey Ballet Contemporary Jazz Program, Alvin Ailey Arts/Education Program, the University of the Arts and many conventions. Ginger was featured in Dance Train Magazine for her dynamic teaching style and commitment to dance education, and is described as an innovative, inspiring teacher who is dedicated to the development of her students. 

 

Her “absorbing and inventive,” choreography “with amusing creativity” (Jazz Dance E-news) continues to receive rave reviews. Ginger choreographed for NIKE SHOX, the NJ Nets Dancers, recording artist Lijie, and was one of 10 chosen to present work in the Élan Awards, honoring Mr. Lar Lubavich. Her work was commissioned by Dancing Wheels Company, Collaborative Movement Dance, the Hanayashiki show in Japan, and several industrials.  As the Artistic Director of LiNK, her work has been presented in the NuDance Festival, where the NY Times quoted “The selection of choreographers was unusually good,” WaxWorks, the 60X60 musician collaboration, DRA Remember Project, the Queens Fringe Festival, Suite Summer Festival and the Independent film Reflections, to name a few. The Jazz Dance E-news quotes, “The greatest exploration of the choreographic voice within jazz dance was seen in the work of Ginger Cox.” In addition to dance, Ginger hes choreographed for a female bodybuilder and fitness enthusiasts.

 

Ginger is the co-creator of BDC's Choreographer’s Workshop, and she co-developed  BDC’s Dance Educator Development program. She designed Stretch it!, a fitness video produced by Leaders In Fitness, and her own Dance Warm Up by LiNK, produced by 10-9 Productions. She is on the Advisory Board for the Young Choreographers Dance Festival, Broadway Dance Center’s Faculty Advisory Board, and has contributed for articles in Dance Teacher Magazine, Dance Spirit and Jazz Pulsions. Some of her many performance highlights include Saturday Night Live with Molly Shannon and Jimmy Falon,  Radio City Music Hall,  Lou Bega, and many industrials and dance concerts.
